  • Competitor coverage. Who else is named in the same answer?

These are the unit metrics of AI visibility. A rank tracker that just says "yes/no, your brand was mentioned" is a status light, not a measurement.

Why traditional rank trackers can't measure this

Tools like Ahrefs, Semrush, and SE Ranking added AI features as bolt-ons to their existing Google rank trackers. The architecture mismatches the problem in two ways.

Snapshot frequency. Traditional rank trackers run a query once a day or once a week and store the position. With Google, that's fine — positions are stable hour-to-hour.
